You can choose whether you want the gameplay to be more competitive, or more helpful. The core of JAQ is drafting and stacking cards to build attack, defense, and knowledge while avoiding damage. Heroes search from dawn to dusk for equipment and spells every day, and gather sets crafted by different guilds, which are often vital to completing both adventures and quests.
The mix of simple rules and complex strategy makes it ideal for any gaming group – it’s one of those gateway games that everyone enjoys, no matter who you invited or who ends with the most points. And the 2-player version is just as captivating. It switches to an open-drafting format and, unlike many strategy games, retains all of the mechanics and strategic decision making as the 3-6 player version. The solo mode has you compete against the Crimson Knight, who is competitive against even experienced heroes.
