The Giant Blind Albino Penguins, from H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness are more than just a joke. These grotesque birds add interesting new tactics. Whoever has the Penguins' loyalty can move them into a Battle during Pre-Battle even if its own Faction is not involved. And if the Penguin's Faction is not involved in the fight, its controller chooses which side it fights for! This is a great spoiler tactic used to advance your own plans. Even if you are not playing a combat-heavy Faction, the penguins are extremely useful.
